Matt Grenfell is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and composer, whose work bridges decades of songwriting with a present-day creative resurgence. His music reflects a long arc that began in the studios of Berklee College of Music in the 1990s, paused during a career in education, and has re-emerged in the 2020s with renewed purpose and perspective.

Musical Journey
Grenfell began recording music in the 1990s while studying at Berklee College of Music, where he developed many of the songs that would later form the foundation of his recorded work. After Berklee, he stepped away from recording to pursue a career as a band director and later a math teacher, placing his music on hold while also raising a family.
In the 2020s, a former Berklee roommate, Mike Genovese, encouraged Grenfell to revisit and re-record the material he had written decades earlier. That moment reignited his creative journey and led to the release of his first album, composed of songs written in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Rather than serving as a retrospective endpoint, that album became the starting point for new work.
Building on that foundation, Grenfell has since released multiple singles written in the present day and is actively writing new music, marking a transition from reflection on the past to forward-looking creation.
